Maumelle Family Fest
The event was held last weekend at Lake Willastein, but the weather put a damper on things. RF member Butch Stone, who organized the event, is going to do it again THIS weekend, Apr 24 & 25 (5pm-10pm on Fri and 10am-10pm on Sat). He’s bringing in more rides & there will be lots of food & drink. Results Fitness has a booth – when you come out please look us up & register a friend for a free membership in our drawing.

Free Fruit
We’ve had a positive response to the free bananas and apples we’ve been providing to members at the club. Of course, who doesn’t like free stuff? In lieu of the membership appreciation nights we’ve held, we’ve decided to instead increase our quantity of fruit provided each day. We feel this is better service to our members…at least that’s the feedback we’re hearing. Please help yourself to the fruit and enjoy with compliments from your RF staff.

Missing Books
There are a few books that were left out on the table next to the vending machine for member use. Doug had one called Core Performance and Kristie had a couple related to men’s & women’s health training. The books went missing. If you happened to borrow one, please return it.

New Trainer
We’ve had a new personal trainer join the crew at RF. Jim Thompson acquired his personal training certification in 2003 through National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA). Since then, Jim has trained hundreds of clients ranging from age 14 to 80. He’s 59 years young and a grandfather of 9, but hardly looks a day over 50! Jim’s schedule is real flexible and he is looking to add additional clients. You’ll find his bio card with contact info on the front desk.

Relay for Life
Don’t forget that the Maumelle relay is being held on May 1 at the Rolling Oaks Athletic Complex. Results Fitness has a team led by Kristie, who is also the chair of the Luminaries portion of the event. We need your help – please purchase a luminary in honor or memory of a family member or friend that has/had cancer or just donate money to the cause. RF has pledged to match whatever the RF Team raises, up to $500. See Kristie or email her @ maumelle@results247.net for more info.

Tanning
The kinks with Advanced SunSystems should be all worked out. We had a problem with members going over there and asking for the RF specials, only the staff didn’t know anything about it. Melanie, the owner, assures me everyone has been educated. Again, the discount is $15/mth basic unlimited tanning & 1/2-off joining fee (for new customers not already enrolled in monthly tanning) & 15% off all other tanning packages (10-sessions, etc).

Need a Smoothie?
RF member Rita Clark is opening the Tropical Smoothie Café in a strip center right next to the Wal-Mart SuperCenter. It’s currently in the construction stage, and Rita tells us she’s planning to open in June. They’ll have health & nutrition-related smoothies and drinks – you can even call in your order and drive thru their pick-up window to get it. They are looking to hire staff and Rita really wants help from here in Maumelle. If you know of any potential candidates, have them call her at 803-3773.

New Neighbor
We’ve got a new neighbor in Riverpointe Plaza. On the opposite side of Hibbett Sports from us is the Riverside Clinic. It is staffed by Dr Tom Eans (pronounced like jeans without the j), a family/general practice that can treat all types of illnesses and injuries. Dr Eans has several years of hospital Emergency Department experience and he has a Procedure Room to better care for injuries and urgent conditions. He gives international travel immunizations and can prescribe anorectics for weight loss when indicated. For more info, please give him a call at 663-3732.

TIP OF THE MONTH
DID YOU KNOW that the most effective way to perform cardio exercise is interval training? Using high intensity intervals followed by similar easy bouts gives the most return for your time on a treadmill or elliptical. Interval training increases aerobic capacity, mental toughness, and helps you vary your typical “steady state” cardio routine. During interval training, you exercise at high intensity for a period of 30 seconds to 3 minutes and follow each interval with an easy period. The harder the interval, the longer the rest period. A typical workout has 5-10 of these intervals and should be followed by a 10 minute cool down.
